Will your business equipment work on a digital landline?

Select everything that may use your telephone line. This checker builds a practical supplier and testing list for the move from PSTN or ISDN to digital services. It does not send or save your answers.

Do not test safety-critical equipment by guessing. GOV.UK advises businesses to identify every line-dependent device and confirm compatibility with its supplier or manufacturer.
1. What is connected, or may be connected, to the line?

Choose every item that applies, including equipment in cupboards, plant rooms and lifts.

2. Does broadband share the telephone line or account?
3. Must calls or connected equipment keep working during a power or broadband failure?
4. Is reliable mobile signal available throughout the premises?

What this checker can and cannot tell you

A connector or analogue telephone adaptor may let some older equipment attach to a digital service, but connection is not proof that signalling, monitoring or power-failure behaviour is safe. The equipment supplier and communications provider must confirm the supported design, and you should test the complete service after migration.

Provider rules also differ. For example, BT Business currently says a number cannot be ported to its Digital Voice for Business service from a line that supports broadband, or from certain lines supporting alarms, lifts and fax machines. Check the rules for your exact old and new services before changing or cancelling anything.
